State of Origin: Live stream, Game 1 kick off time, TV channel, teams, injuries, team news | Other | Sport

State of Origin returns today with Game 1 of the three-match series for 2018.

New South Wales host Queensland in the first match, which kicks off at 8pm AEST (11am BST).

The Melbourne Cricket Ground is expected to be a sell-out for the match today as Queensland seek to get their title defence off to a winning start.

NSW have won just one series since 2006 and are desperate to restore some parity to the rivalry.

This is the biggest series in rugby league – bigger, some may say, than major internationals – and fans can expect thrilling drives, crunching tackles and a fair bit of handbags to fly today.

Here’s everything you need to know about State of Origin 2018…

State of Origin date and kick off time

Game 1 of State of Origin is scheduled for June 6, with an 8pm kick off in Melbourne. That’s 11am in the UK.

New South Wales team news

This is very much a new-look team for NSW. There are 11 debutants set to take to the field on Wednesday.

James Roberts (achilles) and Jack de Belin (hip) have both recovered and are expected to at least make the side.

Queensland team news

This is the first time since 2003 Queensland have not had one of Cooper Cronk, Billy Slater (hamstring), Cameron Smith or Johnathan Thurston in their side.

Dane Gagai is expected to play despite a fractured finger, says Maroons coach Kevin Walters.

“Gagai came out to train and I expect him to play,” Walters said.

“He’s in a fair bit of pain. He finished off the session and we expect him to play.”

Michael Morgan is set to start at fullback, while Anthony Milford and Ben Hunt should be ready for the game.
